West Basingstoke Baptist Church is a local independent church, meeting together as directed in the Scriptures, for praise, worship, teaching, fellowship and the winning of souls to Christ.
Independent means that Jesus Christ is the head of our local church and we are not bound to, or controlled by, any other church or organisation.
The members of this local church alone are responsible before the Lord to follow the teachings of the Bible.
Many today are confused or sceptical about spiritual matters and consequently do not think that God’s Word is either relevant today, or able to meet their need. The opposite is actually the case. No matter what your need is, God’s Word has the answer. It is God’s Word and only God’s Word that directs a person to Christ, and only Christ is able to meet your personal need.
We would encourage you and challenge you to come and join with us at West Basingstoke Baptist Church as we open God’s Word together. It will meet your needs, it will change your heart, it will feed your soul and it will transform your life.

Our Pastor: Pastor David Ellsmore
David Ellsmore came to faith in Christ in 1973 due to the witness of John Kennedy, a Scottish pastor and church planter. Since 1981, David has faithfully led the work of West Basingstoke Baptist Church in England. In 2007, he received a Masters of Biblical Studies Degree from Emmanuel Baptist Theological Seminary, Europe and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Bible Baptist Seminary, Cromwell, Connecticut in 2013. He is currently undertaking further post-graduate studies. David lives with his wife Devene in Basingstoke. He has 4 adult children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
